FinanciFunded by the Diputación de Cádiz through DipuActiva, with the collaboration of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Jerez-Xérès-Sherry and the Bodega Manuel Aragón de Chiclana, the University of Cádiz with the IVAGRO professor Dr. Ana Jiménez Cantizano has started the activities of Vitilab, considered the first living viticulture laboratory.
The Vice-Chancellor for Science Policy and Transfer, María Jesús Mosquera, together with the Vice-President of the Provincial Council of Cádiz, José María Román, the President of the Regulatory Council, César Saldaña, the Delegate for Promotion of the Town Council of Chiclana, Pepa Vela, the head of Bodega Manuel Aragón, Sebastián Aragón, and the head of Vitilab, Ana Jiménez Cantizano, presented the project directly in the vineyard. Dr. Jiménez Cantizano introduced the origin, development and objectives of Vitilab, focused both on the field of viticultural research and on the interaction with society and winegrowers.
The vineyard where Vitilab is being developed is a new plantation, with more than 200 vines of 7 different varieties, in which it will be possible to carry out viticulture research and train researchers and winegrowers, reinforcing the research carried out in this field at IVAGRO.
